Atira’s 20 years of yoga study and practice shine through in her distinct style of teaching, both through the Anusara, Embodied Flow, Hatha Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Sacred Feminine Yoga traditions. A senior yoga teacher of 10 years (1000 YTT hrs), her classes support students to discover their own innate wisdom of their bodies through a full spectrum practice, combining asanas, meditations, pranayama, tantric philosophy and self-discovery.
She has studied with international teachers such as John Friend, Tara Judelle, Desiree Rambaugh, Noah Maze and Mooji, and has learnt much from her time in India at the feet many awakened teachers. Her biggest inspiration is her Satguru, Mata Amritanandamayi, also known as Amma, who taught her the path of deep devotion, love and service in action.
Atira teaches with a particular focus and intention on supporting women to reclaim a respect, acceptance and love for their bodies, emotions, sexuality and cycles. She mentored under Devashi Shakti from Tigress Yoga and Sacred Female Yoga, and was one of Tigress Yoga’s senior teachers. She has also studied with Jane Hardwicke Collings from the School of Shamanic Midwifery, Vicki Noble, the 13 moons women’s mysteries, and completed her Doulla training in 2011 with the School of Spiritual Midwifery.
Atira brings to her yoga classes an understanding of somatic psychology and trauma recovery through her studies in BMC (Body Mind Centering), Embodied Flow TM, and Somatic Experiencing. This awareness and focus on awakening practices allows the yoga practice to be a space for deep healing and growth at the subtle levels.
Through the practice of deep listening, alignment and healing in her classes, Atira inspires and empowers students through her infectious exuberance, courage and joy for life, to live an authentic life of joy and purpose both on and off the yoga mat.
She now teaches internationally at workshops, retreats, festivals and yoga teacher trainings in South America, Australia, Europe and Bali.
