THE COLONISATION OF PSYCHEDELICS — PART II Psyche THE COLONISATION OF PSYCHEDELICS — PART II Psychedelics are powerful amplifiers. They amplify intention. We cannot separate the medicine from the values of the people, facilitators, institutions and systems that share it. So what happens when psychedelics enter a culture that values: ownership over relationship? competition over reciprocity? scale over sustainability? profit over people? power over humility? What might be amplified then? This is where the conversation about commercialisation becomes more important, because commercialisation doesn’t change how medicines are distributed. It starts to shape what we value about the medicines, and the psychedelic healing culture. We start measuring success through clinical outcomes, market growth, intellectual property, scalability and financial return. And we start to miss elements of healing which are harder to measure: Relationship. Reciprocity. Cultural context. Community. Responsibility. Meaning. Care. The things that may not fit neatly into a clinical trial, a patent or a balance sheet. When a powerful amplifier enters a system, it doesn’t exist outside that system’s values. It can magnify them. So what happens if ego is amplified? What happens if greed is amplified? What happens if the desire for ownership, status and control is amplified? And what happens when the people holding the greatest power have the greatest capacity to shape the future of these medicines? This isn’t about assuming bad intentions. It is about recognising that good intentions alone do not protect us from harmful systems. What kind of world are we creating around the medicines that can help us heal? What values are we embedding into the psychedelic future? And ultimately: Whose values will shape what these medicines become? 🌿 Our 9-Month Advanced Somatic Psychedelic Facilitator Mentorship is for practitioners who want to help shape a more ethical, embodied, relational and accountable psychedelic future — with ongoing supervision, real case consultation, honest reflection and a small learning community. You can experience ego dissolution, profound love, You can experience ego dissolution, profound love, a sense of unity, or feel as though you have touched something sacred… …and still return with the same attachment patterns, unexamined wounds, need for validation, difficulty with boundaries, or relationship to power. A powerful experience can open a door. But it does not automatically teach us how to live differently once we walk back through it. Maturity asks for more: reflection. integration. accountability. humility. the willingness to be challenged. the capacity to stay in relationship when things become uncomfortable. This is especially important for practitioners.
